Menorah Park and Montefiore of Menorah Park are now one integrated foundation and will continue to honor the rich philanthropic legacy of all of our past benefactors.
According to the Wellness Institute, there are six realms of wellness: spiritual, emotional, physical, social, intellectual, and environmental. Being fulfilled in these realms makes for a happier, healthier life. If one realm is off, we are missing something crucial to being well-balanced. Realizing its importance, Menorah Park staff meets monthly to ensure opportunities that include many choices in activities are accessible during residents’ day to day lives.
With more than basic needs and wants as a priority, staff examines new and creative ways to create growth in the six realms of wellness, improving the outlook and the well-being of our residents by providing extensive choices so that everyone has access to what’s of interest to them.
By embracing these dimensions, residents are better equipped to manage the complexities and spontaneity life presents. With that in mind, many great ideas are implemented through the wellness committee.
Examples of wellness programs available throughout campus are:
The Person-Centered Care and quality-of-life programs promote “extras,” suchas pancake breakfasts, bagel brunches, gourmet dining at Menorah Café, wireless internet access, and a small merry-go-round and indoor and outdoor play areas for the enjoyment of visiting grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The Talmud says, “a dream not listened to is like a letter that is never read. The power of imagination is a power of the soul and one that draws us forward….”
As we age and approach our later years in life assessing our time on earth, our accomplishments, our dreams and desires that remain on our personal “bucket lists” become that much more important. The Menorah Park community understands that helping to fulfill dreams, however big or small, gives deep personal satisfaction, comfort and peace.
Thousands of dreams have come true at Menorah Park since the inception of the D.R.E.A.M (D.are to R.each E.very A.mazing M.oment) Program. We urge our campus residents to share their dreams with us and we make it our mission to help communicate their desires until their dreams do come true. Whether it’s taking a trip to Israel or a thrilling ride on a motorcycle with the Mayor of the city; meeting an American Idol rock star, having one’s art displayed in an art gallery for the first time, renewing long-time wedding vows, or even becoming a Bat Mitzvah late in life. Menorah Park’s D.R.E.A.M Team, comprised of the our auxiliary, Menorah Park Women’s & Men’s Association, trustee volunteers, and staff has the sole mission of helping dreams come true.
We are grateful for the support of the Enid & David Rosenberg DREAM fund that sustains this program.
Individual attention to medical, emotional, social and intellectual needs has placed Menorah Park among the top 10 percent of senior care centers nationally with a five-star Medicare rating. Even with more than 900 sub-acute admissions annually, stringent state inspections consistently find zero deficiencies in care.
Unlike other healthcare and residential campuses, Menorah Park’s medical team includes two full-time doctors, physician assistants and registered nurses. When needed, Menorah Park’s social workers expertly and compassionately address admissions, discharges and other concerns. Speech, physical and occupational therapists team with the medical staff and social workers to tailor each resident’s and rehabilitation client’s care.
It’s as much about relationships as it is about staff expertise in building quality care. Overall annual staff turnover is 7% compared to a national average in nursing homes of 43.9% (most recent Am. Health Care Assn. Nursing Facility Staffing Survey).
Having convenient and timely access to medical services has been proven vital to maintaining or improving overall health. In additions to services provided by our medical team, Menorah Park coordinates several services on-site:
Transportation to off-site medical appointments is also available.
House calls are back through Menorah Park’s team approach to keeping residents healthy.
This service available at The R.H. Myers Apartments, Stone Gardens and Wiggins Place offers a seamless transition from having to physically leave the comfort of your home for a doctor’s appointment, to having personalized visits in your own home by a trusted Menorah Park physician.
The Miller Pharmacy supports immediate access to medications, both on a planned and emergency basis, 24-hours a day, for our campus residents and post-hospital rehabilitation clients.
Our thanks to David Miller and the Meisel Family for their generous support that helped Menorah Park begin this important service on our campus.
For personalized medical transportation, you can rely on Menorah Park Medical Transportation for door-to-door service. The first dialysis center located on a senior living campus in Cuyahoga County
Centers for Dialysis Care (CDC) in cooperation with Menorah Park created the first non-sectarian, full service dialysis center located on a senior living campus in Cuyahoga County.
Through this affiliation, the Center serves post-hospital rehabilitation clients and Campus residents who require dialysis, but may often face many challenges in being transported to and from dialysis centers off-site, especially during times of harsh weather. Hardships such as these are eliminated with easy access through an indoor walkway connecting the Center directly to Menorah Park’s Marcus Rehabilitation Center and flexible appointment times. In addition, the conveniently located Center serves community members living in surrounding eastern suburbs. Its twelve full-service, state-of-the-art dialysis stations are designed with the comfort of each individual in mind.
Both of these non-profit organizations have like missions; to provide innovative services in response to the changing health care needs of our community.
Menorah Park Hospice supports the end-of-life needs of residents living at Menorah Park, The R.H. Myers Apartments, Stone Gardens and Wiggins Place.
The Hospice Team is proud of its dedication to residents and their loved ones during this challenging time. Menorah Park’s program has received Fazzi’s National Hospice Award of Distinction based on family members’ high rating of the ways in which Menorah Park’s Hospice Team enhances comfort, promotes quality of life, and supports choice in end of life care with respect, dignity and caring.
This life-affirming approach to caregiving ensures our residents' quality of life by providing comfort and honoring personal care requests. Equally important, Menorah Park Hospice helps to alleviate anxiety and stress that occurs during this phase of life.
Our dedicated team gives information, guidance and direct care as changes occur during the final stages of life. Spiritual support is an integral part of our mission and we provide services to all faiths.
