Ingrid's Story:
Born in in Berlin, Germany on June 2, 1927, Ingrid grew up surrounded by the depravity of what would become the Nazi occupation. Although only her father was Jewish, the political and social impact was intense. With no formal training, her artistic expression blossomed. She explored all media, but settled on watercolors, because the difficulty “made them more challenging.” Ingrid and her family fled Germany in 194, and would regroup in Barcelona before emigrating to Canada and ultimately New York. Ingrid married Harry Sussman, and together they moved to Walden in Aurora with their daughter, Yvonne. There, in her studio loft, she continued to be a prolific watercolorist, exhibiting in many shows and contributing a body of work, a portion of which is now on display at her current residence, The Weils of Chagrin Falls.
