Teen Philanthropy Returns to Menorah Park

Posted on 01/20/23 by Beth in Community News

We are very excited to be re-engaging The Menorah Park Teen Philanthropy Board after a two-year hiatus due to COVID. This year we have seven participants in grades 10-12 from a few high schools in the area. The program is open to children and grandchildren of Menorah Park leadership, current teen volunteers at Menorah Park, and promising teens referred by Board Members.

Rick and Joan Rivitz’s grandchildren – Brandon, Lauren and Jamie Insul. Lauren is a member of this year’s Teen Philanthropy Board and Brandon and Jamie are “graduates”

The Teen Philanthropy program is an important educational tool providing a unique opportunity for local area high school teens to participate in a grant-making process. They will be raising thousands of dollars for needed programs on our campus, while learning valuable leadership and decision-making skills. And, they will learn about the vital role of philanthropy for the Menorah Park community.

The group meets on five Sundays during the winter and spring. While the board implements their own fundraising project, we are lucky enough to have additional funding provided by the Roz & Sam Krasney Teen Philanthropy Fund. Additionally, Joan and Rick Rivitz have assured the future of this program with a planned gift.

Feel free to contact Jane Furth at 216-839-6688 for any questions about the program.
