For people who feel isolated and unproductive due to a disability, Club Fusion represents a huge step toward the goal of getting back to life and being a part of the community. The purpose of this group is to provide opportunities for socialization and recreation specifically for disabled adults who live in the community. The group meets on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM at the Menorah Park Adult Day Center.
The therapeutic activities in the program focus on maintenance of daily living skills, development of leisure and recreational interests and interpersonal relationships. The structured format provides clients with a variety of experiences, exposing them to new avocational interests and opportunities. Perhaps the most important aspect of this group is that they are an integral part of the planning process and decision-making in terms of what activities they pursue.
This group eats together, plans together and helps one another, becoming a family unit. They are capable of decision-making, and realistic about what they can do. Participants in this program must be independent in terms of their personal care needs, and able to functionally engage in activity for up to a one-hour period of time. The ultimate goal is to help clients develop skills that will allow them to go out independently into the community.
